Abstract:  The author discusses statins, which work by blocking the production of cholesterol at the mevalonate pathway, from the perspective that they can create new problems for the heart patient. Main topics of discussion are statin use and heart disease and additional benefits of Coenzyme Q10 therapy; two case reports are also presented, illustrating the beneficial effects of Coenzyme Q10 and negative effects of Mevacor on Coenzyme Q10 levels.
