Abstract: The reader is shown how to perform the calculations for four problems based on information taken from the 1998 Physicians’ Desk Reference regarding Caverject. In the first, the reader learns how to calculate the strength given the amounts of other ingredients. The second shows how to calculate the percent adsorbed to the container for the different strengths of Caverject. The third shows how to calculate the quantity of sterile water that would need to be added to a vial containing a certain amount of alprostadil to prepare a solution containing a certain concentration. The fourth shows how to perform the calculations necessary to prepare a solution using an electronic balance with a minimum weighable quantity of 10 mg when preparing 5 mL of a solution containing 15 micrograms/mL.
