Abstract: In this article, the author, a doctor of osteopathy, discusses past trends in the use of hormone replacement therapy and current prescribing practices. She concludes that many women treated with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy experience a significantly improved sense of well-being and libido; in addition, they often have less muscle and joint pain. However, additional clinical trials are required to confirm the beneficial effects of this therapy in treating hormone-deficient patients.
