Abstract:  In this discussion, the author covers the physiology of the ear, causes of otic problems, impacted cerumen, water-clogged ears and disorders of the skin and the ear. Sample formulas provided include the following: Urea and Hydrogen Peroxide Otic Solution; Boric Acid 2% in Isopropyl Alcohol; Aluminum Acetate Otic Solution; Hydrocortisone and Acetic Acid Otic Solution; Acetic Acid and Glycerin Otic Solution;; Ciprofloxacin 1% Otic Drops; Gentamicin Sulfate 0.1% Otic Solution; Lidocaine Hydrochloride 0.5% Otic Solution; Neomycin Sulfate 0.5%, Polymyxin B Sulfate 10,000 U/mL and Hydrocortisone 1% Otic Solution; Nystatin 100,000 units/mL Otic Suspension and Triamcinolone 0.1% Otic Solution.
