Abstract: The author discusses the current uncertainty in the regulatory community concerning compounding pharmacy. He advises compounding pharmacists to increase their efforts at state and provincial levels to ensure that proper regulations for compounding exist. Despite the uncertain future of the compounding section of the Food and Drug Administration Modernization Act of 1997, the future development of educational programs and standards and adherence to good compounding practices will ensure a favorable regulatory environment providing patients and healthcare professionals with better treatment options for better health.
