Abstract:  Glovebox systems technology, in use for approximately 50 years, is a mature technology. There are 300 to 400 professionals in the US who have devoted their careers to designing, building, and implementing glovebox systems. In 1986, these people formed a professional organization, known as the American Glovebox Society (AGS), for the purposes of disseminating knowledge to users of glovebox systems, such as compounding pharmacists who are struggling with containment problems; promoting innovation by sharing design problems and solutions; and establishing standards for design, fabrication, and performance of glovebox systems.
