Using Readily Available Technology to Start or Enhance Pharmacy-Based Immunization

Abstract:  Although the concept is relatively new in the U.S., the increase in the number of states permitting pharmacists to administer vaccines to their patients suggests that policymakers realize the importance and health benefits impact of pharmacy involvement in immunization delivery. The authors of this article recommend that compounding pharmacists consider the importance of offering immunization services in their community and have described several ways to use readily available technology to enhance immunization services.
