Abstract:  The use of the appropriate water in compounded preparations and for the rinsing of glassware and implements used to prepare formulations is an essential component of good compounding practice, but questions about which type of water to use in those applications often arise. In this article, we provide current information from the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) about the correct use of USP waters and address questions about that topic that concern compounding pharmacists.
