Abstract:  Using the appropriate water to reconstitute powdered medications and rinse glassware and compounding implements is essential to the purity of many customized medications. An in-house system that provides purified water offers multiple advantages if its purchase and maintenance are cost-effective, but determining which system is most appropriate can seem daunting. This third article of a three-part series includes testimonials from compounding pharmacists about the water purification system they use, information from the manufacturers of such systems, and a Table in which pharmacy suitable water purification systems are compared.
