Abstract: The authors present the compounding history of various Brazilian cosmetic preparations and review the differences in the United States and Brazilian markets for compounded skin-care formulations. They conclude that pharmaceutical compounding is an integral part of health care in Brazil. Compounded and manufactured cosmetic lines enable pharmacists to develop unique products that appeal to the international market.
