Abstract:  The intent of this article is to share information about pharmacy computer systems (from the perspective of someone who has been in and around the business for about 40 years); and, in particular, to provide insights into selecting the right computer technology for a compounding practice. The author, who grew up in a compounding pharmacy and is now associated with a subsidiary of National Data Corporation, discusses his personal experience, available pharmacy systems, computer technology as it applies to compounding, how pharmacy systems work, printing, marketing help, where to put equipment and things to think about.
