Abstract: In this article, the authors examine the use of information technology in community pharmacies and compounding pharmacies, focusing on devices such as personal digital assistants, central fulfillment and central processing and the Internet. The authors conclude that the Internet, automation, information technology and the telecommunication opportunities they offer can be used to enhance patient care by enabling pharmacists to be more efficient and effective.
