Abstract:  Incubators provide the compounding pharmacist with a way to perform microbial testing of sterilized preparations, important for the validation of compounding processes. This article focuses on the rationale for two devices in different temperature ranges, factors to consider in selecting an incubator (temperature range, stability and uniformity; convection heating; ease of cleaning and disinfecting), price and sources of information.
