Abstract: In this article, the author discusses considerations in the treatment of eye disease in veterinary patients, product formulation, common side effects of topically applied drugs, practical considerations in the mode and frequency of administration and treating eye diseases in exotics. A table provides instructions for the administration of ocular medications to small animals, and a figure provides graphic and written instructions for the placement of a subpalpebral lavage catheter for horses.
