Abstract:  This article provides scenarios of three different pharmacies in the areas of quality control, quality assurance, and quality improvement. The scenarios show the importance that each pharmacy placed on a problem of dented capsules and the potential impact that an unresolved problem can have on a compounding pharmacy’s business. Although this article focuses on one particular procedure, the purpose of the article is to help pharmacists understand the difference between quality control, quality assurance, and quality improvement.
