Abstract:  This article provides the perspective of the American Veterinary medicine Association on compounding for animals and covers the following topics: situations when one should consider compounding for an animal, guidelines for veterinary pharmaceutical compounding, and a summary of the Symposium on Veterinary Compounding in Veterinary Medicine in September 1993.
