Abstract:  Saw palmetto has been used historically to treat prostate hypertrophy, and it is used today in compounding. It should be purchased only from a reputable vendor. The author discusses compounding saw palmetto, dosing of capsules, indications, conditions, what pharmacists can incorporate in practice, mode of action and pygeum.
