Abstract:  In this interview, leading skin care compounder John Hollis, RPh, owner and founder of John W. Hollis, Inc., describes some of the preparations he has developed to promote skin health and beauty. Some examples include an acne preparation with benzoyl peroxide and hydrocortisone that replaces a product that is no longer commercially available, skin-peel solutions and cosmeceuticals, preparations containing alpha-hydroxy acids and 5-fluourouracil combinations for treating psoriasis. Topics discussed include the mechanism of action of alpha-hydroxy acids, preparations for treating skin cancer and the differences between alpha-hydroxy acids and beta-hydroxy acids.
