Abstract: The poloxamer polyols are a series of closely related block copolymers of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide of varying molecular weights and designations. This article covers their characteristics, pharmaceutical uses, and stability and compatibility. Tables provide information regarding poloxamer numerical designations, physical form, average molecular weight and melting points; solubility of poloxamers in common solvents; poloxamer uses and routine concentrations and concentrations of salts above which a 20% poloxamer F127 solution will not gel.
