Abstract: The author presents an opportunity for compounding pharmacists: pharmacy-based fat-loss/wellness programs, which allow pharmacists to provide consumers with health-related products and services that they need and want and also engender collegial relationships with physicians. According to the author, a fat-loss initiative can be implemented economically in the most compact of pharmacies with basic compounding equipment, a bioimpedance device for determining body composition, unique nutritional products and a process for providing care and dispensing products. Such a program can allow pharmacists to prevent and manage serious health problems and also receive compensation for their efforts.
