Abstract: Sildenafil citrate is a nitric oxide donor that produces smooth-muscle relaxation resulting in vasodilation. As an otic preparation, this chemical could be very useful in disease states involving impaired blood flow in the ear, such as Meniere’s Disease, vertigo and some types of impaired hearing. The authors provide a formulation for Sildenafil 0.2% Otic Drops, which they report having used successfully for about one year to increase blood flow in patients with a history of hypovascularity due to hypertension, arteriosclerosis and other disease states.
