Abstract:  The author discusses some metabolic changes that occur during andropause and treatment options that address those changes. The discussion focuses on metabolic modifiers (zinc, vitamin C, chrysin, proesterone, saw palmetto, nettle root, indole-3-carbinol and Di-indolyl methane) and prohormones (androstenedione, androstenediol and norandrostenediol). The author concludes that therapies other than testosterone supplements alone are now widely available and that some men benefit from a combination of agents. Topical and transdermal delivery provide exciting new options for treatment.
