Abstract: This article by the Lloyd Scholar at the Lloyd Library and Museum in Cincinnati, Ohio, describes the Pearson Museum at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The thematic focus of the museum is the role of the healer and the delivery of health care in the Upper Mississippi River Basin area. The collection is especially rich in materials dating from the mid- and late-1880s to the present. Permanent exhibits include a physician’s office, a dental clinic and a pharmacy of the period. Ed Lewis, a pharmacist from Canton, Illinois, whose collection included more than 5,000 items, contributed a sizable portion of the collection. Information is provided to assist the reader in learning more about the museum and visiting the site (address, contact, information, telephone number, website address, hours and admission information).
