Abstract
The author discusses the new political climate surrounding compounding for veterinary patients and summarizes the position statement of the American Veterinary Medicine Association on this issue. She concludes that compounding pharmacists and veterinarians must use their complementary knowledge to predict the reliability of proposed dosage forms, and pharmacists must use irreproachable judgment to minimize any risk of adverse events or lack of therapeutic effect in veterinary patients.
