Abstract

The author presents the definition and classification of osteoporosis, its impact on society, bioidentical hormone treatment options and ways medications can improve or maintain quality of life for patients. Tables provide information regarding medications associated with bone loss and treatments for osteoporosis. The author concludes that sex hormones are considered first-line therapy for the prevention of osteoporosis.
