Abstract:  The author, affiliated with Mercer University School of Pharmacy in Atlanta, GA, talks about the rewards and challenges of compounding and recommends that those just starting out should specialize in one particular area in which they feel comfortable and competent. They should also consider additional training from a professional organization, review the literature for information or pursue continuing education at a college of pharmacy. He also recommends honing business knowledge and marketing skills and concludes that the opportunities for success are there and that compounding pharmacists have a bright professional future.
