Abstract: The author is president of the Oley Foundation of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. He has also had Crohn’s disease for 33 years and began home total parenteral nutrition (TPN) in 1975. He discusses the relationship between pharmacists and home TPN patients, issues of importance (over-the-counter medications in use, children on TPN and issues that need to be addressed for the latter and medications supplied by the TPN pharmacy that are not covered by insurance).
