Abstract: The reader is shown how to perform calculations for four problems. The first concerns a patient undergoing a thyroid function test and shows how to calculate the number of capsules the patient should be given to accomplish a certain dose and the quantity of radioactivity that will be available at the 30-hour cutoff time. The second involves a sodium phosphate P-32 solution and shows how to calculate the total microcuries of activity available in the solution and the length of time it will take for the activity to decrease to 0.1% of the original activity. The third concerns an allergenic extract and shows how to calculate the concentration of the allergen at specified dilutions. The fourth involves a skin-test antigen and shows how to calculate a dilution using sterile water for injection as the diluent.
