Abstract: The author, a pharmaceutical chemist, discusses the issue of who is qualified to be a compounding pharmacist. In his opinion, a compounding pharmacist should have access to the most recent information, maintain an inventory of drugs and flavoring agents and be capable of obtaining chemicals in a reasonable time, be dedicated to pharmacy and willing to make a financial investment, have an aseptic area with the necessary equipment, avail himself or herself of the information in publications and participate in classes provided by compounding organizations and tear down walls and build bridges to share his/her experiences with others for the good of all.
