Abstract:  This article discusses the use of ultrasound as a method of drug administration, drug delivery via phonophoresis, coupling mediums, variables in phonophoresis and drugs used in phonophoresis and provides sample formulations used in phonophoresis (Ultrasound Gels, Corticosteroid Gels for Phonophoresis, Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Gels for Phonophoresis, Dexamethasone 1.5% and Lidocaine HCL 4% Ultrasound Gel, Zinc Oxide 20% Gel and Iodine and Methylsalicylate Ultrasound Ointment.
