Abstract
The preparation of compounded nonsterile preparations (CNSPs) must be guided by standards to ensure they are free from microbial contamination and physical and chemical contaminants and are of the intended strength and appropriate quality. Such standards have been developed by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) within chapter <795> Pharmaceutical Compounding – Nonsterile Preparations, the latest version of which was published in November of 2023. Given that thoroughly understanding USP <795> is necessary for those involved in nonsterile compounding, having a reference text to explain the requirements and recommendations within <795> may benefit individuals seeking additional information or clarification. The Chapter <795> Answer Book 2nd Edition by Patricia Kienle offers such a reference.
