The author discusses theory and the official solvents: acetone; alcohol; alcohol, diluted; amylene hydrate; benzyl benzoate; butyl alcohol; corn oil; cottonseed oil; diethylene glycol monoethyl ether; ethyl acetate; glycerin; hexylene glycol; isopropyl alcohol; methyl alcohol; methylene chloride; methyl isobutyl ketone; mineral oil; peanut oil; polyethylene glycol; propylene glycol; sesame oil; and waters (purified water, sterile purified water, water for injection, sterile water for injection, bacteriostatic water for injection, sterile water for irrigation and sterile water for inhalation). A table provides a listing of physicochemical characteristics of the official solvents.
