Abstract: The reader is shown how to perform calculations to solve three problems. The first involves a person taking a diuretic who is advised to eat a banana daily. The reader is shown how to calculate the quantity of potassium that would be consumed in a certain weight banana. The second involves a 10% potassium chloride elixir and shows how to calculate the quantity that would be needed to provide the same amount of potassium as in the first problem. The third involves a liquid dosage form containing diltiazem for an elderly patient and shows the reader how to calculate how many tablets would be needed to prepare 6 fl. oz. of the liquid dosage form.
