Abstract:  The reader is shown how to perform calculations for six problems. The first shows how to calculate the quantity of acetaminophen elixir that should be given to a 28-lb dog every 8 hours. The second shows how to calculate the quantity of diazepam Intensol that should be given to deliver a dose of 1.5 mg to a cat. The third shows how to calculate the quantity of ketamine injection needed to deliver a dose of 60 mg/kg to sedate a snake. The fourth shows how to calculate the quantity of tetracycline suspension that should be added daily to a quarantined, 165-lb pig’s drinking water. The firth shows how to calculate the quantity of penicillin FK that should be given every 6 hours to a certain-weight cat. The sixth shows how to calculate the dose of captopril to treat hypertension and congestive heart failure in a dog weighing 12 lbs and how to prepare this suspension using 50-mg tablets of the drug.
