Abstract
Erectile dysfunction is a very common complication of diabetes; as many as 50% to 80% of men with diabetes experience some degree of erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction in men with diabetes mellitus usually is a result of the vascular and autonomic dysfunctions that often accompany uncontrolled hyperglycemia. A number of treatment options can be offered to a patient experiencing this complication. Compounding allows for specialized dosage forms of medications; with the help of an attentive physician and a compounding pharmacist, successful treatment of erectile dysfunction can become a reality.
