Abstract: Hyperthyroidism is one of the most common endocrine disorders found in middle-aged to older cats. This article discusses pathophysiology, clinical signs, diagnosis, treatment (surgery, radioactive iodine and antithyroid medication) and prognosis. According to the author, compounding pharmacists have greatly contributed to improved compliance in the treatment of this disease.
