Abstract: Representatives of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) answer questions about new JCAHO survey procedures designed to assess compliance with United States Pharmacopeia (USP) Chapter <797> standards for sterile compounding. Topics addressed include training, education, and evaluation of personnel; use and maintenance of equipment; design, implementation, and maintenance of cleanroom facilities; procedures for compounding sterile preparations; and documentation of all of these activities.
