Abstract: This article is the first in a two-part series that breaks down quality planning into a systematic, stepwise process. Part 1 addresses the tangible aspects of compounding that directly influence the quality of compounded preparations. Part 2 will speak to less tangible but critically important mechanisms targeting continuous improvement. The author takes a holistic approach, which he describes as a comprehensive, systematic, and proactive approach to continuously improve everything that may, directly or indirectly, influence the quality of a preparation or service.
