Abstract: Six problems are provided for the reader. The first concerns a 2.5-mg dose of a drug supplied as a solution with a concentration of 1:200 w/v, administered using a dropper with a drop factor of 12 gtts/m,L, and shows the reader how to calculate how many drops would be needed to supply this dose. The second concerns calculation of quantity of drug and suppository base needed to prepare 12 suppositories. The third provides the Cockcroft and Gault equation for calculating creatinine clearance in men and shows how to calculate the creatinine clearance for a 78-year-old man weighing 210 lb with a serum creatinine of 2.8 mg/dL. The fourth provides a formulation for Zephiran Chloride Solution and shows how to calculate the concentration of zephiran chloride in the dispensed solution. The firth shows how to calculate the length of time an albuterol inhaler would last a patient. The sixth shows how to calculate the mean, median and standard for data provided on the exercise time for five students.
