Compounding Pharmacy: The Past Decade

Abstract: In celebration of the tenth anniversary of the International Journal of Pharmaceutical Compounding, the journal will feature a series of articles chronicling the developments in compounding over the past decade. Discussions in the first article include media attention, laboratory location within the pharmacy, specialized compounding, how precise dosing has dramatically increased the quality of patients’ lives, how compounding has changed the curriculum in the schools of pharmacy, the professionalism achieved by the practitioners of compounding, and how the United States Pharmacopeial Convention has increased its efforts to establish pharmacy compounding standards.
