Abstract

Understanding statistics in the results and tables of published research studies and evaluating whether the appropriate statistical tests were employed can allow an individual to be independent of the authors’ conclusions, judge for himself or herself the merit of the study and draw his/her own conclusions. In this article, the author focuses on continuous data. A stability study by Trissel et al., “Compounding an Extended-Stability Admixture of Paclitaxel for Long-Term Infusion,” is used as an example to demonstrate statistical concepts. A list of definitions of terms accompanies the article.
