Abstract:  Compounding pharmacists play a vital role in the prevention, duration, and conclusion of diseases and infections for immunocompromised patients. Caused by deficiencies such as the human immunodeficiency virus, acquired immunodeficiency virus and cancers, which warrant immunosuppression during chemotherapy, immunodeficiency renders the patient vulnerable to viruses, infections, and diseases that, in the immunocompromised state, could develop lethally. By working closely with patients, compounding pharmacists are able to provide correct dosages, strengths, and drug combinations for each individual situation.
