Abstract: Paul W. Lofholm, PharmD, is a nationally known academician and compounding pharmacist with a well-established diabetes practice. He is a clinical professor of pharmacy at the University of California at San Francisco and adjunct clinical professor of pharmacy at the University of the Pacific, a director of clinical education for the American College of Apothecaries and a lecturer in its specialty training program in diabetes care, among other things. In this interview, he discusses compounds for diabetic patients, ways to work around allergies to ingredients, ways to work with patients with diabetes who request over-the-counter oral products labeled with a caution to avoid use unless consulting a physician, patient counseling, services, etc.
