Abstract:  This brief survey provides an overview of state pharmacy laws and regulations that specifically address compounding for animals. It is based exclusively on the results of a search performed using the online pharmacy law database, NABPLAW. The search was intended to locate information specific to compounding for animal patients. There are surprisingly few state pharmacy laws and regulations that address compounding for animals. As attention to veterinary compounding practice continues to increase both on behalf of regulators and the public, it could be reasonably expected that additional state laws and regulations addressing the practice will be promulgated in the near future.
