Abstract: Cellulose ethers play a major role in controlling the release of drugs, masking the taste of drug formulations and facilitating drug processing. The author discusses ethylcellulose and methylcellulose, their historical development and their applications. Both ethylcellulose and methylcellulose products are noted for their high purity, stability and compatibility with other materials.
