Abstract: The common objectives of most medical professionals are to improve the medical condition of their patients, improve patients’ understanding of their medical problem, reduce patients’ concerns and stress related to their medical problem, and offer as many services as possible to make each patient’s treatment safer and more effective, and their disease more manageable. A compounding pharmacist who has taken the necessary steps to become a Certified Diabetes Educator has the potential to become the primary diabetes educator in the community and an integral part of the healthcare team. The credentialing mechanism validates knowledge of specific medical problems and provides recognition of excellence in practice. Certification sets the industry standard.
