Abstract
The author describes an innovative packaging concept for “emergency” situations in hospice care, the Symptom Relief Kit, which is designed to treat symptoms that occur as the patient’s disease progresses. The purpose is to have the medications available before the patient actually needs them to prevent needless suffering and the high cost of hospitalization in emergency situations. Explanatory material is sent to the prescriber. A listing of contents of the kit is provided, along with printed information explaining the philosophy of the kit and directions for use.
