Abstract: Refractometry is a basic and simple technique that can be used for both qualitative and quantitative analysis. In this discussion, the author focuses on quality-control applications, theory of refractometry, refractive index and density, variables in refractometry, quantitative analysis, instruments, calibration and use and source and availability. Tables provide the refractive index of some substances and examples of a standard curve of dextrose in water.
