Abstract:  The Department of Pharmacology at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine is currently conducting stability studies of oral suspensions of pergolide for the treatment of equine Cushing’s disease. While those results are not available at this time, this paper summarizes the results of a literature search on possible clinical treatments for equine Cushing’s and is intended to provide insight into the pathophysiology of the disease. Pharmacological options for treatment of equine Cushing’s are discussed.
