Abstract

Degenerative myelopathy is a degenerative disease that causes demyelination of the spinal cord, especially in the thoracolumbar region of affected dogs. It appears with increased frequency in the German Shepherd. Here the author, a veterinarian, discusses diagnosis and treatment involving vitamins (vitamins E, C and B); aminocaproic acid and N-acetylcysteine.
